Report a Violation
The Enforcement Division protects registered elements: it detects unauthorised use, issues formal notices, publishes violation flags and prepares evidence for the International Court of Cultural Justice (UC-ICCJ).
What counts as a violation
Unauthorised commercial use
Selling or profiting from a registered element without attribution or benefit-share to the community.
False origin claims
Presenting a cultural element as one's own creation or as belonging to another origin.
Distortion and misuse
Using a registered element in a way that misrepresents, degrades or strips it of its cultural meaning.
How a report is handled
1. Report
Any community member, registrant or observer submits a report to the CIPO Office with the registered element and the suspected violation.
2. Examination
The Enforcement Division verifies the element against the register and examines the evidence provided.
3. Formal notice
Confirmed violations receive a formal notice with the required correction, following the sanction ladder of the Cultural Code.
4. Flag and referral
Unresolved cases are flagged publicly on the register and prepared for the UC-ICCJ.
