The body of Iran’s former supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, has arrived at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla mosque as funeral ceremonies begin for the leader who headed the country for more than 36 years.
Iranian authorities expect up to 20 million people to attend the funeral, which would make it the largest in the country’s history.
The ceremonies are set to conclude with Khamenei’s burial at the Imam Reza shrine in his hometown of Mashhad.
Khamenei was killed alongside several members of his family in US-Israeli strikes on Iran at the start of the war on 28 February. Many senior Iranian officials were also killed in the attacks.
